We know that euphoric feeling when you score a cheap ticket to your next destination. Here are some things to look out for so you won’t be surprised by the fine prints later on!
#1. Stopovers
Always, always check this. Sometimes we can be so blinded by the cheap fare that we forget to look at the overall duration of the flight. While it doesn’t make sense how a flight to Seoul can take 14 hours, it may (see example below). Plus, most promotional fares doesn’t allow cancellation or changes so it will be too late to change anything once payment is made!

#2. Frequent Flyer Miles
If you are on a mission to collect x-number of miles, there’s a chance that you may not be able to collect 100% miles on a promotional ticket. Most of us don’t read the fare rules but if miles are important to you, make sure you spend some time digesting it!

#3. Baggage Allowance
Most of us should know that most budget carriers do not include budget allowance in their cheapest fares. If that’s the case, you will need to consider the cost of the baggage allowance in your overall air ticket. A 15KG allowance can cost about SGD 20 (one-way) so if you multiply that by 2 (for two-way), you may be better off with a full-fledged airline which may have baggage allowance included.

#4. Seat Selection
Do you know that some promotional fares do not allow you to choose your seats till you do your online check-in? Yes, even for full-fledged carriers. But this is really the least of my problems with promotional fares because it’s just a seat and I don’t need to be next to my travel companion anyway! However, if you are travelling with your family, this may be a concern.
