NEW YORK. NEW YORK. NEW YORK.
The city so great that it has to be repeated thrice. The city so rich in culture, heritage and food oh glorious food. Expect everything OVER THE TOP. I mean desserts that are wayyy too sweet for our taste buds and wayyy to rich.
But hey, you are on a holiday right? So let down your guards (or maybe unbutton those pants of yours) as here is our take on the 4 best desserts in New York City worth putting those extra pounds for!
Dominique Ansel Bakery’s Cronut
The original creator of ‘Cronut’ – a croissant-doughnut hybrid.
Started in 2013 and has become one of the most virally talked about dessert item today.
.
We arrived at about 10.30am and there was already a really long line outside of the store and in the store there were at least 20 people queuing up in this cosy café. So we did what tourists would do, queue up patiently while instagraming away.
After about 45 minutes waiting in the cold, we finally got in!
Their tagline “Keep Calm and Cronut on’ – we watched the cronut being carefully produced, with chiefs dipping the pink peppermint icing on each homemade cronut. Apparently, they specialize in having one cronut flavor a month, so since it was Christmas, they served a ‘pink peppermint’ cronut! In summer, they would have flavours such as sea salt caramel or dark chocolate.
It was firm but yet soft on the inside, with the peppermint filling whooshing out of the ring of the cronut.
It’s definitely something different and hey, at least you get to tell your friends you had a cronut! #goingnutsoncronut

Levain Bakery Cookies
They pride themselves with one simple mission: create the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookies.
And they sure did.
The cookies are made fresh daily, with flavours such as chocolate chop walnut, dark chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and dark chocolate peanut butter.
One bite and you will be send to cookie heaven, it’s fudgey gooey centre simply melts in your mouth on the inside yet baked with a perfect crisp on the outside.
And one cookie is simply NOT enough. We tried all 4 flavours and all were exceptionally great.
We will definitely come back for more!

Carlo’s Bakery Tiramisu
If you watch ‘Cake Boss’ on E you would be familiar with this famous Carlo’s Bakery where Buddy Valastro is fame for making over the top celebratory cakes for celebrities and sweet sixteen birthdays!
Once you stepped into the shop, you are immediately overwhelmed with the HUGE range of desserts, from assortment of cookies, cupcakes, biscuits, brownies, cannolis and many countless sweet treats!
We decided to try the Tiramisu because it just looks like a cute little minature cake.
The alcohol taste is very light but the cream was milky smooth and not too rich so we basically indulged in its creamy goodness. So if you are near Time Square and want to be spoilt for choice, this is definitely a place you should step into!
