6 Amazing Trips To Take With Your #BFFs

If you and your #BFFs have been planning a girls trip for the LONGEST time, it’s time to show them this list and make your flight booking within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, there’s a high chance it wouldn’t happen and you know it.

So girls, be the pro-active one and make that girls trip happen. 😊

#1. Bali

I’m not a fan of beach holidays so I wasn’t the most excited when my girlfriend and I decided to surprise another girlfriend at Bali. Well, the surprise is fun but Bali? I wasn’t too sure. Thinking Bali is just filled with beaches, I didn’t even bother planning an itinerary (very unlike of me). The day came and although the airport was as intimidating as what other travelers made it out to be, Bali is a wonderful place – especially with your girlfriends!

Tegallalang Rice Terraces in Bali
Uluwatu Temple

Surprise, surprise. Turns out Bali isn’t just about beaches and there’s so many beautiful sights which will leave you (and maybe your Instagram/Facebook friends) in awe. We booked a driver for two days and regretted we didn’t prepare an itinerary! We spent a day at Ubud (where you can visit the never-ending rice terraces at Tegallalang) and another day visiting the gorgeous temples by the coast.

Sea Circus Bali

I didn’t know that Bali has such a crazy cafe scene. If cafe-hopping in Singapore is getting boring, you really should book an air ticket to Bali for (cheaper) and (chiller) cafes. No one’s going to chase you off by clearing your plates or gently reminding you that there are people in line.

#2. Hong Kong & Macau

I would make a bet that you girls are already considering Hong Kong! It’s easy to get around (their MTR system has been voted as the best), there are plenty of delicious food options, you’ll never run out of activities to do at night and it’s generally very safe for ladies.

Macau Senado Square

The thing is, Hong Kong is so popular among Singapoeans that most of you would have been there before and no one really wants to visit the same place twice. Our suggestion? Book a ferry ticket to Macau (it’s about an hour away from Hong Kong and costs about $100 for a return ticket) and you’ll be transported to somewhere entirely different.

Venetian Macau Hotel

Hotel-hopping is actually a thing in Macau because some hotels can be so ridiculously over-the-top. For example, Venetian Macau is modeled after the beautiful Venice city (yes, including Gondola rides with singing gondoliers). Plus, the bigger hotels like Venetian and Galaxy provides free shuttle bus from most hotels so it’s a zero-cost entertainment.

#3. Ho Chi Minh

Perhaps I should start with a disclaimer – you should only embark on this trip if you know your girlfriends are the sort who can rough it out (you know who they are). Don’t get us wrong, Ho Chi Minh has decent shopping malls and more-than-decent cafes but only those who enjoy life’s simple pleasures will truly love this city.

The best meals we had were at the road side (yes, those stalls with tiny stools) and I still miss it today!

Day trips to the Mekong River and Cu Chi Tunnel are really affordable too! We made our reservations with one of the tour agencies around Ben Thanh market and was pleasantly surprised when they quoted us less than SGD100/each for both day trips 😉

#4. Bangkok

Bangkok Tuktuk

How can we not include Bangkok? It’s one of those places that we girls will never grow tired of. Platinum Mall (our favorite wholesale mall) keeps getting bigger. Chatuchak is a maze with plenty of hidden gems – provided you are willing to brave the heat! As if these two aren’t enough, there’s MORE night markets to keep us girls occupied at night (I love Rod Fai Night Market!) – boys will never understand why we love Bangkok so much.

Khao Yai is fast gaining popularity but do you know that there are plenty to do at Suan Pueng too? It’s just about 2.5 hour drive away from Bangkok (hire a driver if you girls prefer to take the back seat) and there will be plenty of IG moments!

#5. Seoul & Busan

This is THE trip if your girlfriends are into anything pretty and cute. No one does pretty and cute better than Seoul. Presentation is everything, just look at these adorable Brown brownies from the LINE store. It costs about SGD 3 for one of this but I succumbed and got myself 2, when I know it’s probably not gonna taste food. Oh well!

Busan Gamcheon Culture Village
Busan Gamcheon Culture Village

No one leaves Seoul without getting a few boxes of masks. No one leaves Busan without a visit to the Gamcheon Culture Village, i.e. the Santorini of the East. With its pastel shade houses lined up along the coast, it’s not difficult to see how it got that nickname! If you feel you need a break from shopping (cosmetics), Busan is perfect as it’s just a 2.5 hour train ride away from Seoul. The pace is so much slower and it offers a daintier side of South Korea.

#6. Anywhere

A girls trip is all about spending time with your #bffs (something that is increasingly hard to do after graduation) so the destination really doesn’t matter. A trip to Batam or even JB will be good to catch up with your favorite girls, act all silly and relive those good old days. ❤

My parents think I travel too much but if not now, then when? New experiences excite me the most and that's why I rarely visit the same city twice unless (a) they have awesome food and (b) they have awesome food.
