Lhong Tou Cafe, Bangkok’s Best Kept Dim Sum Secret

I’ll be honest. Lhong Tou is Bangkok’s best-kept secret not because they have delicious dim sum. To be fair, their dim sum is pretty good but their restaurant interior is what you’ll remember them for. Here’s why you should be adding Lhong Tou to your itinerary 🙂

1. Enjoy a better view

There are two decks of seats and without saying, of course you should try to get the seats on the upper deck! The tiny, steep steps may not be convenient but trust us, it offers quite a refreshing view. Seated on top also means that you won’t be bothered much by other guests or waiters for a relaxing meal.

2. Menu is short, but sweet.

That’s right. They don’t give you a super long menu which makes you crack your head on what to order. Instead, your get a simple menu which you can easily say “one of everything”! The best thing? It won’t burn a hole in your wallet either because every dish costs less than SGD3 on average.

3. Food is pretty awesome.

If you enjoy salted egg yolk buns (or more endearingly known as 流沙包), you’ll love their super sinful version of it. It reminds us of our deep fried mantou – but with a flowy salted egg yolk custard, served hot. But of course, that’s not the only thing we loved – everything is so delicately prepared that we really loved our time here.

4. It’s really convenient.

Although the flagship store is in Yaowarat (which may be a little far from town), they have a new branch right smack in Pratunam, beside Big C. Here are the addresses for both outlets so you can see which fits into your itinerary better!

  • [Yaowarat] 538 Yaowarat Rd, Khwaeng Samphanthawong, Khet Samphanthawong, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10100
  • [Pratunam] 111 Ratchadamri Rd,G Floor ,The Market Bangkok, Khwaeng Lumphini, Khet Pathum Wan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10330

Pratunam’s branch opens at 10am but if you are an early riser, Yaowarat’s outlet opens its doors at 8am.

Oh before we forget, they serve breakfast sets (there’s porridge too) which gives you more reason to wake up early for this hidden gem that not a lot talk about. My parents think I travel too much but if not now, then when? New experiences excite me the most and that's why I rarely visit the same city twice unless (a) they have awesome food and (b) they have awesome food.
